Lessons on black & white thinking.
You were raised to believe there is one right way to do things. One right way to speak, act, think, be “good,” succeed. As long as you got it right, you couldn’t be wrong.
But life is not a test of worthiness. There is no single key to the answers. There are just people living from the limits of what they know. There can be two truths in one room (maybe even more) and none of them need to cancel the others.
Growing up believing that perfection was possible made grace feel like giving up. But grace is the understanding that everyone (including you) is just responding to the world from where they stand.
There’s freedom in knowing that right and wrong aren’t the only choices.
